The Coastguards(ザ・コーストガーズ)は千葉県柏市で結成された日本のメロディック・ハードコアバンド。2011年にHajime TakeiとMasashi "Marcy" Shimadaを中心に結成された。彼等は兼ねてから親交のあった90'sのHardcore punk・Emoに精通するバンドの友人をメンバーに迎えスタジオに入り、彼等のルーツとなるFurther seems forever・Starmarket・IGNITEなどのカバーを録りながら作曲と活動を始める。

The Coastguards is a Japanese melodic hardcore band from Kashiwa, Chiba. The band was formed in 2011 by Hajime Takei (OCEANLANE) and Masashi "Marcy" Shimada (kamomekamome, BUDDHISTSON). They went into the studio in 2012 with friends and made many songs. The next year saw the release of their demo, and many shows throughout East Japan. In 2014, The Coastguards released 1st 7inch "The Dead End E.P" from Plastic Pride, and in 2014 the band released 1st full length "I Refuse" from IKKI NOT DEAD, and embarked upon their first JAPAN tour. Like many other melodic hardcore bands, The Coastguards are known for their promotion of tolerance and unity within the scene.

They released 1st cassette tape "Demo 2015" from Plastic Pride in 2015. KCHC (kashiwa city hardcore) split 7inch with BLINDSIDE from UNBROKEN RECORDS in 2017, and 1st full length "I Refuse" Vietnam and ASIA Edition from First and Last Records in 2017.

History

• 2011年にMasashi "Marcy" Shimadaのサイドプロジェクトバンドとして始動。
• 2012年ヴォーカルHajime Takeiが加入し、ベーシストにYusuke Kano、Yasuhiro "Gori" Horisaki・Fumito Shiroganeがギタリストとして参加。Masashi "Marcy" Shimadaを中心に作曲を始めデモを収録。
• 2013年視聴サイトにてデモを期間限定公開。
• 2014年10月彼等の初の正式音源「The Dead End EP」を自身のレーベルPlastic Prideからリリース。
• 2014年11月に1stアルバム「I Refuse」をIKKI NOT DEADよりリリース。
• アルバム「I Refuse」はレコーディングエンジニアにYusuke Watabeを迎え千葉県柏市の老舗スタジオSound Studio Mにてを2013年に録音。ミキシングとマスタリングはAttic StudioのDaihei Yamanaka (Cleave) が手掛けた。
• 2014年12月 ENTER SHIKARIのジャパンツアーに出演。
• 2015年「I Refuse」リリースツアー開始。 To Overflow Evidence・waterweed・Hopeless Raven・Givelife・BLINDSIDE・Only the Last Songなど、全国各地の数多くのハードコアバンドと共演。
• 2015年自主企画"CAMPFIRE2015"開催。NUMB・ENDZWECK・GIVE LIFE・FOR LIFE・BACKDATE NOVEMBERと共演。
• 2015年ボストンハードコアのレジェンドBANE(US)とDOWN TO NOTHING(US)の来日公演のツアーサポートで共演。
• 2015年SHIBUYA CRASH 2015出演。
• 2016年8月上旬再びスタジオに入り「The Coastguards / BLINDSIDE KCHC split」の2曲をDEVU RecordingsのDEVU (Hopeless dew) をレコーディング・ミキシングエンジニアに迎え録音。マスタリングはAttic StudioのDaihei Yamanaka (Cleave) が手掛けた。
• 2017年「The Coastguards / BLINDSIDE KCHC split」をTo Overflow Evidenceの運営するレーベルUNBROKEN RECORDSよりリリース。
• 2017年1stアルバム「I Refuse」Vietnam & ASIA Editionがベトナムの名門レーベルFirst and Last Recordsよりリリース。
• 2017年「KEEP AND WALK 10th Anniversary Compilation」に新曲"This Burning Season"で参加。
• 2017年First and Last Recordsの招聘によりBLINDSIDEとベトナムツアーを行い"SCHOOL OF MOSH FEST"に出演し、ローカルバンドや13steps(Korea)・Monument X(Thailand)など各国でハードコアシーンを象徴するバンドと共演する。

The band was founded in 2011 under. It was supposed to be intended only as a side project to Masashi "Marcy" Shimada’s actual band kamomekamome. In 2011 came singer Hajime Takei to fill in and they recorded a first demo which contained few songs. Yusuke Kano was added as bassist while Yasuhiro "GORI" Horisaki and Fumito Shirogane joined the band as guitarist.

In October 2014, The Coastguards released 7inch vinyl "The Dead End EP" and in November 2014, they released 1st album "I Refuse". Also they released new demo cassette tape "DEMO 2015" while a "I Refuse" release tour.

The album "I Refuse" was recorded in 2013 in Sound Studio M in Kashiwa city, Chiba. The album was released on IKKI NOT DEAD. In 2015, they started 1st album release tour. and played with To Overflow Evidence, waterweed, NUMB, ENDZWECK, Givelife, BLINDSIDE, Only The Last Song and so many hardcore bands, as well as performances in so many places. In early August 2016, the band went into the studio again, and they recorded 2songs for "The Coastguards / BLINDSIDE KCHC split". Their split 7inch, which was released in 2017 was, in recorded by "DEVU recordings". The release was followed with a tour of the Vietnam along with BLINDSIDE. After this, their 1st album "I refuse" Vietnam and ASIA edition was released from First and Last record.

The Coastguards still plan to tour.
