Today under the threat of thunder, the skies didn't pour down rain on the Park's visitors. The cool breeze helped keep the mosquitoes away as they caputured the photos of birds and various insects. The cicadas were calling loudly drowning out the bird calls in the canopy making it nearly impossible to locate the twittering birds above. There are 5 species of cicadas that can be found in the park. In the photo are two of the most common species, the Min-min zemi (Hyalessa maculaticollis or Oncotympana maculaticollis) and Abura zemi or Large Brown Cicada (Graptopsaltria nigrofuscata).
