講座内容：
英語指導者でなくても受講可能です。
この目的のためにはこの辞書を買え！という辞書の薦めではなく、英和・和英辞典／英英辞典を含めた「自分の持つ辞書の特徴・特長」を知り、その機能をフルに活かすための「活用法」が6割。辞書でもまだ対応が不十分な現代英語の語法やその変化での留意点が4割位の内容です。
「辞書の活用法」では最近普及しつつある「アプリ辞書」を主として取り上げ、画面共有でアプリ操作を実演で解説します。

英語の名詞句の理解と定着は、英文法の全体像を理解するためにも重要です。
学習者も指導者も、とかく「問題演習」と称して、「英文」の空所補充や並べ替えで「ひとつの文」を完成させることに躍起になりがちですが、その前段階の文未満の単位である「チャンク」、とりわけ「名詞句」に着目し、段階的なドリルを積みあげる上での表現の取捨選択の背景、記号付けの手順などをお話しします。

指導者対象 英文ライティング指導法セミナー：表現と論理〜入試問題＆過去問教材とのつきあい方

指導者対象です。
高校の英語科目や教科書の持つ根本的な問題と入試を見据えて英文ライティングの指導法を共有するセミナーです。
入試問題も取り上げますが、「入試問題の和文英訳、英文ライティングの出題そのものの適否を指導者が考察する必要性」を訴えることが主眼です。
単純な入試問題の解法講座ではありませんので、ミスマッチをさけるためにも、こちらの注意書きをよくお読みください。
高校段階では「和文英訳」にしても、お題に基づく「自由英作文」にしても「志望校の過去問を解かせて添削」に、中学段階でも「英検の過去問を解かせて添削」が「ライティングの指導法」のように思われがちですが、お題の選択から指導者が関わっていない場合には、適切で効果的なフィードバックを与えることが難しく、学習効果が上がり難くなります。特に「和文英訳」では、巷に蔓延る、かなり雑な「和文和訳」の処理をしてから英訳に取り掛かるアプローチが、折角の学習者の英語力の向上を阻害しかねない事例も目にしています。
「和文英訳」であれ「お題作文」であれ、「エイブン」ではなく「英文」であることが求められるわけですから、この二つに通底しているはずの「ライティング力」を実践例を通じて浮かび上がらせたいと思います。
生成AI支援では行き届かない、人間のライティング教師ならではの、関わり方に関しても実践例を紹介し、知見を共有したいと思います。

のような「総括・要約としての in」 は使い難いですね。
could は #現実味のcould
名詞の misstepは主に米語法と言われる語義で「失敗、失策、ヘマ、やらかし (= mistake≒slip; blunder)」。
そして、この文脈での ”point to” の語義が今回のターゲットです。

このツイートに既にご指摘がありましたが、辞書の和訳に不備があります。

でしょう。

CambridgeのWeb版は、最新の用例も更新されているので、紙版よりも、アプリ版よりも実益に適うことが多いです。point toと併記されているのが、point towards というのが英国の辞書らしいところ。
point to/towards something: to make it seem likely that a particular fact is true or that a particular event will happen:

NOADでは、語義を２つに分けています。注目すべきは、定義に “the case” を使っている2の方ですね。
point to
1. (point to something) cite a fact or situation as evidence of something: he points to several factors supporting this conclusion.
2. (point to something) (of a fact or situation) indicate that something is likely to happen or be the case: everything pointed to an Eastern attack.
生息域が実感できるには、語義の記述と複数の用例の配置が肝。
こうして横断してみると、辞書の個性・特徴（特長？）も見えてきますね。
「テストに出ないものは学ばない」人も相変わらず多いようですので、大学入試の読解素材文からも例を示しておきましょうか。

出典を見ると、2023年の記事ですね。このpoint toの部分は、Kagi Translateでも対応していました。

Kagi translateもDeepLも、この環境での “point to” を適切に処理できていませんでした。ここでは単に “suggests” （ほのめかす） ではないので、

このpoint toの語義は「（事実や状況が）何かが真実である可能性を示す、何かへの証拠となる」というもので、論理的な帰結としてある一点や一事例を、まさに「指し示す」場合に用いられるわけですから、現実味のcouldにpotentiallyで潜在性・理論の裏付けを付与した、could potentiallyを活かして、

というような理解が吉。

次は少し古いものから。といっても2010年代ですけど。
There is certainly some well-established research to suggest that some noises can have a detrimental effect on learning. Numerous studies over the past 15 years have found that children attending schools under the flight paths of large airports lag behind in their exam results. But general noise seems to have an effect too. Bridget Shield, a professor of acoustics at London South Bank University, and Julie Dockrell, now at the Institute of Education, have been conducting studies and advising politicians on the effects of all sorts of noises, such as traffic and sirens, as well as noise generated by the children themselves. When they recreated those particular sounds in an experimental setting whilst children completed various cognitive tasks, they found a significant negative effect on exam scores. ここまで見てくれば、 “point to” のこの語義・用法は、テスト対策としても無意味ではないということがわかってもらえるでしょうか。
