英語とは全く関係ないのですが、先日すごい出来事がありました。
FBの方で友人にだけ知らせていたのですが、こちらでもシェアします。
ナラティブのテクストタイプで書く和文英訳の教材に出来そうではありますけど…。
私が都内の出講先に行く際には大きな駅で乗り換えるわけだが、通勤通学時間帯は結構混む。今日は乗り換えのタイミングよく座れたので、いつものようにツイッター（現X）で英語ニュース引用RTを打ち込んでいた。
電車が数駅進み、別の大きな駅で乗客がかなり乗り込んできて、空席はなくなり、多くの人が立っていて、車内中程まで進んできた。そして、私の座席の真ん前に、私の出講先の学校のものではない制服を着た小柄な女子生徒が立った、と思いきや、床にドンと鞄を置き、ファスナーをあけ中をゴソゴソし出した。

と思って見ていると、やおら弁当箱を取り出した。
「汁漏れでもしたのか？」と疑問の眼差しで見ていたら、弁当箱を持って立ったまま蓋を開けているではないか。
- 「まさか…」
という私の嫌な予感は当たった。
その女子生徒は箸を取りだし、立ったまま弁当を食べ始めたのだ。
鞄は足元の床に置いたまま、左手で弁当箱をもち、右手には箸で立ち食い。
電車は動いているのに、だ。隣の吊り革を持っていた人は少し距離を空けたが、女子生徒は構わず食べ続けている。私は「流石に、これはいかん」と思って、その子に声をかけ、私が席を立つから、立ったままなんて端ないことはしないで、ここに座って食べなさいと席を譲った。
その生徒は軽く会釈のような仕草を見せ、直ぐに席に座り、一心不乱に弁当を食べ続けていた。
その少し先の駅で私は降り、出講先へと向かった。今、思い返しても、「あれは満員電車で席に座るための新たな手段だったのか？」などもやもやしたものが残っている。
私が「いかん」と思った最初の最初は、モラルとかマナーとかの前に、自分の座っているところに、弁当をこぼされたり、弁当箱をひっくり返されたりしたら困る、という自分ごとでした。
「戦略的でしたたかなハシタナサの演出」をする人だったのか、それとも、そんな戦略などなく、もう空腹がどうにもできなくて、素で食べ出した人だったのか、私の頭と心では直ぐに処理できず、今もモヤモヤしています。
またあの子に会う機会があるでしょうか？

The person holding the strap next to her subtly shuffled away, but the girl paid them no mind and just kept on eating.
I thought to myself, “Okay, this just isn't right.” I felt I had to say something. I got her attention and told her, "You shouldn't be eating standing up like that. Here, take my seat and eat." I stood up and offered her my spot.
She gave a little nod, immediately sat down, and went right back to eating her lunch, completely absorbed.
I got off a few stops later and headed to work.
Even now, thinking back on it, I'm left with this nagging, unsettled feeling. Was that all just some clever new strategy to get a seat on a crowded train? I still don't know what to make of it.

I thought, "Okay, this really isn't right," so I spoke up and told her I'd give up my seat—that she shouldn't do something so awkward as eating while standing, and she should sit down and eat properly.
The student gave a little bow-like gesture, immediately sat down, and kept eating her lunch with complete focus. I got off a few stops later and headed to my teaching job.
Even now when I think back on it, I still feel unsettled, wondering things like, "Was that some new strategy for getting a seat on a packed train?" The whole thing still bugs me.
モラルやマナーの話をすると、いろいろな意見が飛び交うと思います。

この「イントロどどいつ」の形でオンライン処理出来ることが望ましいのであって、いちいち、分詞構文でbe動詞の省略、とかやっている場合ではないように思います。
この表現形式は、学習用教材で見ることは少ないのですが、大学入試の素材文で見かけないわけではありません。
有名なところでは、サマセット・モームの Of Human Bondage (人間の絆；1915年作品)から。
“I’m not one to worry myself about a man’s looks. I don’t like good-looking men.”
私が見た入試問題は20年ほど前のものですが、そこでは、このセリフに続く次の一文がカットされていました。ダメじゃん！
