今日の気になる語法は

などで使われている

  • take to + 名詞句

です。

論よりなんとやらで、まずは実例をいくつか。

Instagramの例から。

です。二人の共同でこの投稿をしてはいますが、各々インスタのアカウントは前から持っていて長らく運用しています。

このような使われ方は、英和辞典ではまだまだ対応できていません。

その一方で、学習用ではなく、一般用のNOADでは既に項目を起こして、定義の広義狭義とも用例を示しています。流石ですね。

狭義の方は、特に「ソーシャルメディア」が現実の世界で普及したからこそ生まれた語義でしょう。

（特にソーシャルメディアなどの）コミュニケーション手段を使って、自分の意見を発信する。

という語義・使われ方です。
social mediaのFacebookやInstagram、TikTokやtwitterは「プラットフォーム （platform）」などとも呼ばれますから、他者と情報を行き来させる一定の場として認識されているのでしょう。

旧来の ”take to” の語義で近いものは？というとやはり、「場に出かける」とか、「繰り出す」の延長線上、類推の先にあるものと考えるのが吉では？

MW’sの学習用ではtake to の語義の一番最初が次のようになっています。

この最後の例が、20世紀のテクノロジーの発達で生じた、コミュニケーションの場で用いる "take to" の新たな生息域だったといえるでしょう。

MW'sの一般用でも、語義で項を立ててはいないのですが、Web版での用例には、2025年11月16日現在で、次の実例が収録されています。

テクノロジーの発展により、現実の世界で新たな「場」が生まれ、そこでコミュニケーションをとっているわけです。

殆どの辞書で収録されている、「街頭デモ」の文脈での “take to the streets” はもうお馴染でしょう。「場に繰り出して意思表明」ということですね。

句動詞のtake to +名詞は大学入試でも問われるかもしれませんが、このtake to the streets は成句で「街頭デモ行進をする；街頭デモ行進に参加する」という意味。定冠詞で複数形。

「ソーシャルメディアのプラットフォームを使って…する」という語義が、旧来型の語義からの類推や発展・転用というのであれば、こちらの用法が近いと思います。

今はまだ、入試や検定試験で問われてはいない用法ですが、日常での使用頻度はかなり高くなってきていると思います。
私の危惧はこちらの投稿にも通じるもの。

「頻出問題集」などで見る take to + 名詞の例って、
「（人などを）気に入る」
「（行為などが）習慣になる；…ばかりする」
あたりですよね？
上記ツイートの "take to the streets" って「特定の通りが気に入る」んじゃないからね。むしろ「ヤツらの言う通り」が許せないからこそ抗議するわけです。

大学の出題者の方たちに熟慮していただきたいのは、「イディオムや句動詞の出題が無駄に細かくないですか？」ということ。
確かに、その他の、知っていて当然と思われる語句や表現からの類推で思わぬ間違いをするかもしれないのですが、本当にその知識は試す価値があるものですか？

今日までの増加傾向をみるにはこれしかないでしょう。

GLOWBEは2012-2013のデータですから、twitterとFacebookが主。Instagramは微々たるもの。

COCAは2019年までのデータですから、近年急速に伸びているinstagramの状況を把握するのにはちょっと…。

2020年以降に対応しているのはNOWコーパスだけなので、最後の最後に、プラットフォームごとに、不定詞(to 原形）となる動詞の上位をざっくりと見ておきましょう。
プラットフォームの個性が現れるでしょうか？
