Earlier today, DEEP PURPLE released the following statement via social media: "DEEP PURPLE are saddened to report that, after a short illness, Jon Lord's wife, Vicky Lord, passed away at home on Tuesday, surrounded by her family. She will be missed by her family, all the members of the band, and all those who knew her."
Lord's first marriage, from 1969 to 1981, was to Judith Feldman, with whom he had one daughter, Sara. Vicky Lord was reportedly a former girlfriend of Jon's PURPLE bandmate Glenn Hughes*2 and twin sister of drummer Ian Paice's wife Jacky Paice (founder of the charity Sunflower Jam). The sisters' father was Frank Gibbs, owner of the Oakley House Country Club in Brewood, South Staffordshire. Jon and Vicky also had one daughter, Amy.
