y'=\dfrac{\log x-1}{(\log x)^2} であるから，増減表は

x (0) \cdots 1 \cdots e \cdots +\infty
y' - × - 0 +
y (0) \searrow -\infty/+\infty \searrow e \nearrow +\infty

のようになり，よってx=e で極小値 eをとり，極大値はない．
