誤植と思われるものはなるべく直しておいた．

[解答]
[1] 1フィートは12インチだから，
$2\times 2\times 3.14\times 15\times 12\times 0.28=633.024$ ポンド
（当時、円周率を3.14としていたか不明）

[2] $y$ を消去して $5x^2-36x-52=(x-2)(5x-26)=0$ から $(x,y)=(2,5)$ ， $\left(\dfrac{26}{5},-\dfrac{7}{5}\right)$

[3] $\sin 120^{\circ}=\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2}$ ， $\cos 120^{\circ}=-\dfrac{1}{2}$ ， $\tan 225^{\circ}=1$ ， $\tan (-45^{\circ})=-1$ .

[4] $C=55^{\circ}$ であり， $a=\dfrac{20\sin 100^{\circ}}{\sin 25^{\circ}}\mbox{ft}$ ， $c=\dfrac{55\sin 100^{\circ}}{\sin 25^{\circ}}\mbox{ft}$ ，

[5] 常用対数をとると
$\dfrac{1}{5}\log_{10}\dfrac{123\times 45.6}{7.89}$
$≒\dfrac{1}{5}\log_{10} 711$
$≒\dfrac{1}{5}(2+\log_{10} 7.11)$
である．常用対数表から $\log_{10} 7.11=0.8519$ であるから求める値(の近似値)は
$\dfrac{2.8519}{5}=0.57038≒0.570$
（有効数字3桁で対数を計算したので有効数字3桁で答えておく．線形補間で $\log_{10} 7.109=0.85184$ を求めて $0.570368≒0.5704$ と4桁の精度にしても良い．正確には $0.5703585\cdots$ となる）
