今日の「聴き比べ」はロッド・スチュワート(Rod Stewart)の『マギー・メイ(Maggie May) 』です。
この曲は１９７１年、ソロになって初めての大ヒットとなった曲です。アルバムはソロでの３枚目のアルバム『『エヴリ・ピクチャー・テルズ・ア・ストーリー』(Every Picture Tells a Story)』に収められました。
歌詞の内容は年上の女性との葛藤をロッド自身の体験から作られたようです。アルバムの方はアメリカとイギリス両国で１位になりました。これはビートルズとサイモン＆ガーファンクルに並ぶ快挙でした。
