We are excited to announce that pixiv will be a Scholarship & Music Event Sponsor for RubyKaigi 2026, held this April in Hakodate, Hokkaido. As part of this sponsorship, we are proud to host our side event: RubyIlluminations 2026.
What is RubyIlluminations 2026?
In previous years, pixiv has hosted "RubyMusicMixin," a space where RubyKaigi attendees could enjoy music and networking. Thanks to your support, it has become a highlight for many participants each year.
This year, we’re taking that concept a step further. We are rebranding the event as RubyIlluminations 2026, a new type of presentation and live event themed around "Light, Sound, and Visuals related to Ruby."
Why the change?
As we’ve seen in recent RubyKaigi talks, there is a growing intersection between software engineering and multimedia, using Ruby to generate sound or control visual displays. Rather than simply providing a venue to "just play music," we wanted to create a place for technically interesting and free expression, much like creative coding.
We are preparing a high-quality stage designed to make multimedia works shine. Our goal is to host an event where everyone feels welcome to share their work and connect with the community. We look forward to your applications!
Event Overview
RubyIlluminations 2026 is a social event for Rubyists centered on creative performances, including music and visual arts.
Expect an immersive experience with top-tier sound and lighting. The night will conclude with a performance by DJs specially curated by pixiv. Seats will be available at the venue, so you can enjoy the sessions and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere. Light refreshments will also be provided.
Let's illuminate the final night of RubyKaigi 2026 with the power of Ruby.

Call for Proposals
We are looking for creative works that explore "Ruby through Light, Sound, and Visuals." Whether it’s a technical presentation, live coding, a demo, or a musical performance, we want to see your creativity!
- Session Length: 15 minutes.
- Language: English or Japanese (No simultaneous interpretation provided).
- On-Stage Setup: Screens, microphones, DJ gear, and mixers will be provided.
- What to Bring: Please bring your own PC, instruments, and any specialized gear required for your performance.
- On-site Only: Performances must be live and in-person. No remote or pre-recorded video sessions.
- Safety: All content must comply with the RubyKaigi Anti-Harassment Policy.

ピクシブでは2026年4月に北海道函館市で開催される RubyKaigi 2026 に Scholarship & Music Event Sponsor として協賛し、 RubyKaigi 2026 の併催イベントとして「RubyIlluminations 2026」を開催します。
RubyIlluminations 2026とは
これまでピクシブでは、 RubyKaigi 参加者のみなさまが懇親できる場として、音楽と共に交流できる空間「RubyMusicMixin」を提供してまいりました。おかげさまで毎年多くの参加者の方々にお楽しみいただくことが出来ました。今年はそのコンセプトをさらに一歩すすめ「Rubyに関する光・音・映像」をテーマとした新しいかたちのプレゼンテーション・ライブイベント「RubyIlluminations 2026」としてリニューアルします。
近年、RubyKaigiの発表でもみられるように、Rubyをつかって音を鳴らしたり、映像を制御するといった、ソフトウェアエンジニアリングとマルチメディアを用いた発表に触れる機会が多くなりました。私たちも「ただ音楽を流す」場を提供するだけではなく、クリエイティブコーディングのように、技術的におもしろく、自由な表現ができる場所をつくりたいと考えました。みなさまの申込みをお待ちしております！
イベント概要
ピクシブ株式会社は RubyKaigi 2026 の Music Event and Scholarship Sponsor として RubyIlluminations 2026 を開催します。RubyIlluminations 2026 は RubyKaigi 2026 と併開催する、音楽や映像をはじめとしたクリエイティブなパフォーマンスを中心とした、Rubyist のための懇親イベントです。
音、光、映像といったマルチメディア作品の発表の場として、良い音が鳴る、作品が映えるステージを用意します。イベントの最後には、ピクシブが厳選したDJによるパフォーマンスも予定しています。会場には座席があり、落ち着いた雰囲気で懇親しながらセッションを楽しむことができます。また参加者の皆様へかんたんな食事もご用意しています。
RubyKaigi 2026 最終日の夜を、Ruby の力で彩ります。

発表者募集
「Rubyに関する光・音・映像」をテーマにした、クリエイティブな作品を募集します。 プレゼンテーション、ライブコーディング、テクニカルデモ、そして楽器の演奏まで、あなたのクリエイティビティを存分に発揮してみませんか？
- セッション時間: 1セッションあたりの時間は15分を想定しています。
- 言語: 英語、または日本語で発表してください (同時通訳の準備はありません)。
- ステージ: パフォーマンスを盛り上げる機材として、スクリーン、マイク、DJ機材、ミキサーなどを用意しています。
- 持ち物: 上記を除き、パフォーマンスに必要なPC、楽器、映像機材、その他の特殊機材はすべてご自身でお持ち込みください。
- 現地参加限定: 発表はすべて現地会場で行ってください。リモートやビデオ録画でのパフォーマンスは行えません。
- ポリシー: 発表内容はRubyKaigiのアンチハラスメントポリシーを遵守してください。
