3月といえば春の訪れ。新生活など新しい節目を迎え、不安と期待が入り乱れる季節ですね！
ということで、
今回は AJR (エージェーアール) の「World's Smallest Violin」を翻訳いたしました♪
AJR は 3兄弟で活動をしているマルチプレイヤーのポップ・トリオです。
(マルチプレイヤーとは複数の楽器の演奏ができる演奏家のこと)
バンド名はアダム (長男)、ジャック (末っ子)、ライアン (次男) の名前の頭文字をとってつけられたそうです。
彼らの音楽の特徴は、ポップス、電子音楽、ダンスミュージックを組み合わせたスタイルで、作曲、ミキシング、プロデュースは彼らのアパートのリビングで行っているそうです！
「World's Smallest Violin」は彼らの代表曲の一つで、2021年3月に4枚目のアルバム「OK Orchestra」にリリースされ、TikTokでとても話題となりました。
World's Smallest Violin＝「取るに足らない」「とても小さな事」という比喩としてしばしば使われる言葉。
この曲の歌詞では、比喩である「小さな悩みを聞いて」の意味と、そのままの意味で「世界一小さなバイオリンの演奏を聴いて」の意味をかけている、とても工夫された歌詞となっています。
悩んでいても他人に相談できない、我慢強く頑張る人たちの強くて脆い繊細な心の内を、笑いと共に代弁してくれ、心を少しだけ軽くしてくれる素敵な曲です♪
