「House of Rising Sun」の作者は不明で、「The Risin' Sun Blues」の名でも知られています。原曲とされているのが、 Clarence Ashley (クラレンス・アシュレイ) の1930年代に収録された音源で、歌詞の内容はある男が売春宿に手を出したことによる転落人生を歌ったものです。しかしこの曲、カバーによっては女性視点で歌われているものもあり、歌詞が若干原曲と異なります。数々のアーティストによってカバーされ続け、あまたのバージョンが存在していますので、自分のお気に入りのカバーを見つけてみてはいかがでしょうか♪
