受験結果と前回との比較
先日受験したTOEIC Speaking & Writingの結果が本日発表された。スコアはSpeakingが140点、Writingが150点であった。2カ月前に初めて受験した際は、それぞれ120点と130点だったため、今回は合計で40点のスコアアップとなった。
点数向上の要因
とはいえ、この2カ月間で特別な対策を行ったわけではない。単に2回目の受験であったことにより、出題形式に慣れたことが主な要因だ。
Speakingスコアの評価
ざっと調べたところ、Speakingは英語で業務を行うなら最低でも120点は欲しいとされており、平均点は130点程度とのこと。今回の140点は平均を上回っており、まずまずの結果といえる。最終的には160点を目指したい。160点に到達すれば、「なかなか話せる」という評価になるようだ。
Writingスコアと今後の重点
一方、Writingの150点は比較的良好なスコアであるため、今後の学習ではSpeakingの強化を優先すべきかもしれない。
次回受験に向けた対策
次回の受験では、さすがに対策を講じて臨みたい。手元にある問題集の模範解答例を30回ずつ音読することを目標に設定し、その目処が立った段階で次回の受験を申し込むのが望ましいかも。

Test Results and Comparison with Previous Attempt
The results of the TOEIC Speaking & Writing test I took recently were released today. I scored 140 in Speaking and 150 in Writing. When I took the test two months ago, I scored 120 and 130 respectively, so my total score has increased by 40 points.
Reason for Score Improvement
That said, I didn’t do anything special during these two months. I believe the improvement came simply from being more familiar with the test format after taking it once before.
Evaluation of Speaking Score
According to a quick search, a Speaking score of at least 120 is desirable for working in English, and the average score is around 130. My score of 140 exceeds the average, so it’s a decent result. Ultimately, I aim for a score of 160, which is said to indicate a fairly strong speaking ability.
Writing Score and Future Focus
On the other hand, my Writing score of 150 seems reasonably good, so if I’m going to improve further, I should focus more on Speaking.
Preparation for the Next Test
For the next test, I should definitely prepare in advance. I’m thinking of setting a goal to read aloud the model answers in my practice book 30 times each. Once I feel confident with that, I’ll consider registering for the next test.
