最近思ったことをつらつらと書いてみる。
スーパー銭湯は究極のコスパエンターテインメント
スーパー銭湯は、コスパが良い。安いところでも1500円くらいはするので、550円くらいの普通の銭湯の3倍くらいはするのだが、たいてい休憩スペースがあるので、風呂の前後にそこで本を読んだり、動画を観たりして、風呂に入る以外にも好きなことをして長く過ごせる。繰り返し風呂に入るのも自由である。
動画を観るくらいなら喫茶店でも同じことができるのだけれど、スーパー銭湯の方が長居しやすいので、時間比だと安上がりだと思う。私はため込んだ未視聴のドラマを消費するためにスーパー銭湯に行くことがある。
『ランニング・ポイント』で英語学習も一石二鳥
『ランニング・ポイント』のファーストシーズンを見終えた。アメリカのプロバスケットリーグを運営するファミリービジネスを引き継いだ娘オーナーが、チームの浮沈をかけて懸命に働くコメディである。満員のアリーナで試合のシーンが何度もあったが、バスケ経験のある俳優を集めたのだろうか。なかなかよくできていた。
下品なシーンもあるけれど、家族愛や仕事への献身、成功と挫折が表現されていて、視聴感は良い。第二シーズンが予定されているので、それも観るつもりである。
Netflix とAmazon Prime Videoを購読しているけれど、どんどん新作が出てくるので、いつまでたっても一息つかない。テレビでも面白い作品は次々公開されるし。
配信系では英語の学習につながりそうなものに絞ってみようと思っている。英単語帳などで覚えた単語がドラマで聞き取れるようになると楽しいので。今回、『ランニング・ポイント』を観ていて気づいた単語は馬鹿者という意味のmoron（モロン）。ドラマは下品な単語が多いものである。
韓国ドラマに見る文化交流と日韓関係への思い
韓国ドラマを観ていると、日本の文化が登場するシーンが結構ある。登場人物が日本の漫画を読んでいたり、「うどん」というのぼりが立てられた店でご飯を食べていたりする。日本人だって、韓国のビビンバを食べたり、K-POPを聴いたりしているのだから、互いに影響を与えて当然といえば当然なのだが、一度も訪問したことがない国に親近感を覚えるきっかけになる。
日韓関係は色々あるのだが、国際動向も厳しい時勢だし、互いに少子高齢化で国力が衰退していく流れは同様だろうから、協働できるところは上手く協働して、仲良くやってほしい。互いにミドルパワーで大国とはいえないと思うが、独仏関係みたいに協力すれば、世界的に良い影響力を発揮する結構なポテンシャルがまだまだ両国にはあると思うのである。文化的な影響力も大きいし。

Super Sento for Drama Binge-Watching! From Korean Culture to Japan-Korea Relations
I'm writing down some random thoughts I've had recently.
Super Sento: The Ultimate Cost-Effective Entertainment
Super sento (large public bathhouses) offer excellent value for money. While they cost around 1,500 yen even at cheaper places - about three times more than regular public baths at around 550 yen - they typically have rest areas where you can read books or watch videos before and after bathing, allowing you to spend long hours doing things you enjoy beyond just bathing. You're also free to take multiple baths.
While you could watch videos at cafes too, super sento allows for longer stays, making it more economical per hour spent. I sometimes go to super sento specifically to consume my backlog of unwatched dramas.
'Running Point' - English Learning as a Bonus
I finished watching the first season of 'Running Point.' It's a comedy about a daughter who inherits a family business running an American professional basketball league and works desperately to determine the team's fate. There were many scenes with games in packed arenas - I wonder if they cast actors with basketball experience? It was quite well-made.
While there are some crude scenes, it expresses family love, dedication to work, and both success and setbacks, making for a pleasant viewing experience. A second season is planned, so I intend to watch that as well.
I subscribe to both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but new content keeps coming out constantly, so I never get a break. Interesting productions are being released on television one after another too.
For streaming content, I'm thinking of focusing on things that might contribute to English learning. It's enjoyable when words I've memorized from vocabulary books become recognizable in dramas. This time while watching 'Running Point,' I noticed the word "moron" meaning idiot. Dramas certainly contain many crude words.
Cultural Exchange in Korean Dramas and Thoughts on Japan-Korea Relations
When watching Korean dramas, there are quite a few scenes featuring Japanese culture. Characters read Japanese manga, or eat at restaurants with "udon" banners displayed. Since Japanese people also eat Korean bibimbap and listen to K-POP, it's natural that we influence each other, but it becomes a catalyst for feeling affinity toward a country I've never visited.
While Japan-Korea relations have various issues, given the harsh international climate and the fact that both countries face similar declining national power due to aging populations and low birth rates, I hope they can cooperate well where possible and get along. While both are middle powers rather than major powers, I believe there's still considerable potential for both countries to exert positive global influence if they cooperate like Germany and France do. Their cultural influence is also significant.
