*2 come on はすごく沢山の意味があるのだが、安直に解釈すると「妖精にとって、イザベルがとても奇妙な現れ方をした」。
*3 lightは古語で「車や馬から降りる」という意味がある。

チャイルドバラッド４番。この民謡は３つのバージョンに大別されてチャイルド・バラッドに収録されている。また、スコットランド、イギリス、アイルランド、北アメリカに多くのバージョンが分布する。
Polly PaulusmaのバージョンはA（通称The Gowans Sae Gae《雛菊はいとも華やかに》）に属する歌詞で、執拗に繰り返される「雛菊」「五月」というフレーズと、ヒロインが明らかに異能の持ち主であるのが特徴。イザベルは魔性の存在であるはずの妖精の角笛を狂わせ、さらに妖精を操って眠らせることまでできるのである。また、「五月」の最初の日は春を祝う五月祭の当日であるが、その前夜は魑魅魍魎が跋扈する時間とされた（ドイツではいわゆる「ヴァルプルギスの夜」と呼ばれる）。


角笛を吹く妖精の騎士というモチーフは、チャイルドバラッド２番《妖精の騎士》にも出てくる。


ちなみにB（The Water O Wearie's Well《ウェアリーの井戸水》）は姫が井戸で溺死させられそうになるという内容、C（The Outlandish Knight《異邦の騎士》）は異国からの求婚者に財産目当てで連れ去られ殺されそうになるという内容になっている。
特に《異邦の騎士》はもともとのおとぎ話的要素がほとんど消えており、騎士は妖精ではなく単なる結婚詐欺師の連続殺人鬼みたいになっている。
